A new experience: Redesigning the platform with a strong focus on usability and user engagement.
Real case — Layers Education
Context / Project Overview
Layers Education needed to modernize its online learning platform, which suffered from confusing interfaces and navigation issues that negatively impacted user retention and conversion.
The project involved restructuring and redesigning both the mobile app and the web platform, using a mobile-first and responsive approach to ensure a consistent experience across all devices. I worked within a multidisciplinary team, contributing end-to-end: from user research and information architecture to flow definition, interface design, and final delivery.
The main goal was to improve user experience, increase engagement, and facilitate conversion, delivering a solution that balanced students’ needs with business objectives.
Problem / Pain Points
• Users struggled to navigate and find relevant courses → low engagement rates.
• Confusing layouts and flows, especially on mobile → drop-offs during sign-up and first lessons.
• Unclear information architecture → users got lost between multiple apps and integrated features.
Solution / Final Product
• Fully redesigned platform with a clean, modern, and responsive interface.
• Reorganized information architecture, structuring core apps (Communication, Support, Calendar) and integrated apps into a coherent ecosystem.
• Intuitive, mobile-first user flows, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
• Course discovery and recommendation system to increase engagement.
Impact
• +30% increase in engagement across app and web.
• Reduced drop-off during onboarding and early learning stages.
• Users reported higher clarity, confidence, and overall satisfaction.
Process / Methodology
• User research and usability testing to identify key pain points.
• User journey mapping and redesign, focusing on critical friction areas.
• Creation of wireframes, prototypes, and iterative testing (Figma, Miro).
• Definition of platform architecture and app integration, aligning UX decisions with business goals.
Final Outcome
• Clear interface prioritizing filters, intuitive navigation, and course discovery.
• Micro-interactions that reinforce user progress and build confidence.
• Mobile-first screens with seamless responsiveness across devices.
